The Fairy Tale creations of Christine Bohm

Working in her small studio beside the mill stream which flows down from the Sonneberg mountains, Christine Bohm is a doll artist working in the old Thuringian (East German) tradition.

Her beautiful needle-sculptured dolls combine all the characteristics of German folk art with the benefits of modern techniques and materials. Every creation draws on their rich background of legends and folk tales - some well known to us in the stories collected by the Brothers Grimm.

Here you can see, among others, the Little Goose Girl (Ganseliesel), the Brave Little Tailor, even the Pied Piper - except that, because of Robert Browning's poem, we would expect to see him dressed in red and yellow! Do you recognize Cinderella under her German name Aschenputel?

All of the dolls illustrated below can be created for you by Christine and ordered through Marys Children.
